SOUTHWARK ARCHIVES
Intsallation
Installation — 2024
Our Perfume Installation concept archives the distinctive scents of Southwark, drawing inspiration from James Atkinsons, the royal perfumer and pioneer of London’s fragrance industry. The installation showcases the art of scent-making, featuring curated elements that capture the borough’s essence. Complemented by traditional-style advertisements, leaflets, and etiquettes inspired by Atkinsons’ iconic branding, the design pays homage to Southwark’s rich heritage. This immersive experience explores how scent can serve as a powerful archive, preserving the identity and history of a place through fragrance.
Leaflets — 2024
The leaflets were an essential component of our project, serving as informational guides for viewers to better understand the installation and its context. I designed the leaflets to be printed, double sided, on A4 paper and folded in three sections.
The leaflets encompassed all the elements we deemed important: our project concept, a map of the Southwark area, a brief history of Atkinson, and details about the raw elements used in the installation.
For the design, I opted for a neutral background to evoke a sense of heritage and sophistication, paired with a modern typeface to strike a balance between tradition and contemporary aesthetics.
